Can anyone advise about what the going rate is these days?

I hate to think as I used to get £4/5 an hour 10 years ago!

We pay £7/hr but we use the nursery staff who are childcare trained so they charge a little more than your average teenager (non-drivers are £1/hr cheaper as you have to take them home!). I think teenager rate around here is £5.

Thanks.

It's a long time since I did any b'sitting and I think I got 15-20 quid for the night plus taxi money home - having said that I was usually sitting until midnight or after.

Having never had a b'sitter of the non-family/friend, gotta pay for it sort I have no idea. :o

I think most babysitters these days will quote your their rates, terms and conditions, special arrangements (like how much chocolate they will need and transport arrangements for getting home.....). They seem much more switched on than I was when I babysat as a teenager!Smile

Cheers for that, hadn't thought that she might come with some a pre-set scale!!! Think she's as new to this as I am though so will wait and see, maybe she's got friends who've done it and so got an idea from them what to charge.
