Bumbo in the bath

Ok silly question of the evening

DH just put DD (8mo) in the bath in her bumbo and then got worried cos he read the severe 'never use this in the bath' warning. He just asked me to post to see if anyone had any bumbo-bath horror stories. Or if I am a bad mum for not even worrying about it?!

I think its because it floats really quite freely and flips backwards- well mine does when being washed in the sink. So a light, unattended baby may flip backwards. Of course, your baby wouldn't have been unattended would she?!

most bath supports have suckers to stick them to the bottom of the bath which the bumbo doesnt have which would make it unstable and therefore unsafe.

also, if you sit it straight into the bath it will have a big air bubble inside it, unless he filled it up first and then put it the right way up... so even less stable

not something i would do personally, and i'm generally fairly laid-back about this kind of stuff!

My dd could escape from her bumbo quite easily, I wouldn't have used it in the bath because of that.
We used to one of these which dd really liked and is designed for the bath

Great thanks! He reckoned he could suction it (but given he does occasionally wander out the room to get towels leaving the kids in there - don't ask - am not relaxed about that one!) I think I'm off to John Lewis today.

We use a mothercare aqua pod. its great. There have been reviews of scraped legs on some seats when you take the baby out of the bath.
