Clip on or iron on? Or are both fine? Would take me too long to do sew in ones. Not sure what to order.

I use iron on labels from easy2name - there is a 10% mumsnet discount available too.

rivvits

I like the look of the clip on ones. I have loads of the woven tapes but it says you can use the clips with them too. I've never liked the iron on ones as I like to remove the names when I pass the clothes on.

a pen

use a pen

you will be doing so in a couple of years anyway

you can get a special fabric pen - but an old fashioned biro will do

write in on the label

sorted

PandaG · 20/08/2011 20:55

sharpie marker on the label. Seriously!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 20/08/2011 21:05

Grinpen! Why did I not think of a pen! Does it not wash out? Is there space on labels for name?
(too lazy to get off arse and look)

you can get laundry markers and you should find a space on most labels

DrKoothrappali · 20/08/2011 22:49

I have these and they are excellent and really good value for money.

activate · 21/08/2011 07:17

over the school years it will fade - especially as you hand it down to subsequent children - guess what? you re-write it Grin

oh and a word of advice, write on your surname only then when you hand it down it doesn't matter

musttidyupmusttidyup · 21/08/2011 07:20

@ activate genius!

Thank goodness someone else said pen. I've used a CD writer pen for years. Saves time and money and more importantly effort!

treesinthebreeze · 21/08/2011 09:17

If you decide to write your child's name, please, please, please do re-write when it becomes faded. As a teacher, I can't tell you how much time I spend trying to work out a mostly-faded name written on labels. Argh!

maxybrown · 21/08/2011 09:21

Yes or unreadable or too similar to another in the class. Plus I have known people/children to just snip labels out Grin

activate · 21/08/2011 09:32

you are the only teacher in the entire world who has ever tried to read labels then Grin

lost property is the responsibility of the child / parent - not the teacher IME

maxybrown · 21/08/2011 09:40

try telling half the parents that activate!

activate · 21/08/2011 09:54

I think teachers do that very well

you know the eye roll, heavy sigh and the "Lost property is kept in the office or you are welcome to come and look in the classroom"

musttidyupmusttidyup · 21/08/2011 14:14

Bloody right too! I would much rather the teacher was planning/ preparing/ taking care of rather than looking for lost property!
