wibblydibs · 19/08/2011 14:22

Congratulations everyone Smile

I'm starting English Lit at University of Cumbria and I am terrified! I'm currently trying to sort out childcare - private nursery for DS and after school for DD's. I have no idea how much time I'll need to be in university outside of lectures etc...and how much time I'll need to study at home? Confused

festi · 19/08/2011 15:00

im having a nightmare sorting out childcare, its very difficult as I have not got my timetable yet so have no idea wether or not I will or will not need to use a childminder. Wibbly have you applied for any child care costs as I have not yet and not sure how to go about it, I will not know yet how much child care I will need and also is it student finance we apply to, do you know? if so do they only pay controbutions durinmg term term and not in the holidays?

I'm lucky in that my MIL is watching ds so I don't have to worry about exact timings, shes awesome!

I did look into childcare costs, they do pay in the holidays as well as term time.

I'm really nervous too, ds is 16 months and if i'm on mumsnet without DH home he climbs on me and if I ever try to read a book he sits on me and grabs it, so I have no idea how i'll get assignments done within a reasonable bedtime to get up a 7am each morning!

How old are your DC?

cherrypez · 22/08/2011 22:59

festi you need a CCG1 form from studnt finance ASAP to claim childcare. I got 80% of my nursery fees paid when I did my degree, and am going back to do PGCE English in 3 weeks. Good luck!

cherrypez · 22/08/2011 23:01

Oh and cookie monster if you look on my thread on here (pgce september 2011?) there is someone else doing PGCE biology.

MuckyBogStain · 25/08/2011 13:43

Start at Hull Uni in September to do a degree in nursing. I'm scared.

wibblydibs · 26/08/2011 11:03

Sorry, yes it's the CCG1 form - I've not filled it in yet (it's huge) as I've only just got my timetable. It's going to be evenings that I do work I reckon...can't really afford to use childcare any more than when I'm in university. It'll be fine...won't it?!

MetalSian · 26/08/2011 17:05

I will be starting a HND in Business at Exeter College =].
And just sent off my childcare grant form.
Hopefully it will be sorted in time.
