...someone used my changing mat and wipes in the kitchen today and put her baby's bare (dirty) bottom onto it without wiping it down afterwards.

Was it rude of me to clean it and spray it with Dettol while she was still in the room?

euch!

roosmum · 23/11/2005 20:46

at the idea of my creating a mess...like tipex i have great aim, plus if i did make a mess, well i'd just get my dettox out - & you can guess the rest

I find the worst thing with using public loos is when I take dd - she insists on touching everything...the sanitary bin/the floor/the porcelain etc bleurgh!
Must admit that I am a hoverer too unless they seem particularly fragrant.

starlover · 23/11/2005 20:48

lol... ok what do you do anbout public changing mats?>

do you make the babies hover over them? pmsl

Angeliz · 23/11/2005 20:49

Roobie, i'm usually the one in the cubicle hissing "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING "!

CarolinaMoon · 23/11/2005 20:51

you know it's really bad for your pelvic floor muscles if you hover? Thighs of steel aren't going to help any if your undercarriage gives way...

marthamoo · 23/11/2005 20:51

Little OTT, I think. Did I ever mention the time I changed ds1 (sans mat) in a child-free friend's house and a little poo rolled out (one of those little ones like a marble they sometimes do) on to her carpet. I could tell she was utterly horrified (as I would have been pre-kids "Aaaaarrghhhh! Human excrement on my carpet! I'll have to move house!") but, bless her, she tried to act unconcerned. I bet she was scrubbing with Domestos the second we were out of the door.

fisil · 23/11/2005 20:54

I got some dettol in a little spray bottle in ds1s bounty bag when he was born. I think I got it out once when we first started potty training. But then I only used it once - after that I just couldn't be bothered and just wiped any little accidents up with a cloth. Am I very bad?

Dettol using people, do you dettol the bath after your baby's done a poo in it?

roosmum · 23/11/2005 20:55

fraid i'm not keen on them either SL, take my own & put it on top.

CM, didn't realise abt pelvic floor...but these days, the chance to go to loo when out would be a fine thing...how do you manage with babe/buggy etc?? mostly wait until we get home - & i know that's REALLY bad for your plumbing...

Roobietherednosedreindeer · 23/11/2005 20:55

lol Marthamoo - that so reminds me of the time dh trod dogsh*te all over my bosses new cream shagpile at a drinks party a few years ago

disposable changing mats are a must when out and about. I couldn't even use one and then put it back in my bag as surely it will be covered in muck?
Pampers disposable changing mats are fab!

CarolinaMoon · 23/11/2005 20:58

ROFL, roobie, that is hilarious!

starlover · 23/11/2005 20:59

omg either you're all paranoid or i am just a bad, bad mummy!

ds has been changed on all kinds of things... including the toilet floor in tesco

starlover same here. we can be dirty moo's together.

i let my dd3 crawl about the hospital floor as well she is too big to hold all the time and wants to explore and wont stay on her play mat. i do always check the floor has been cleaned that day as well.

fisil · 23/11/2005 21:02

I want to know about the bath. Do people dettol their bath after the baby's had a shite in it?

Angeliz · 23/11/2005 21:02
Blush
Angeliz · 23/11/2005 21:03

My little lady doesn't have a shite in the bath!
huh!

misdee · 23/11/2005 21:03

fisil, i scrub the bath and actually use fairy liquid to clean it (my kids have eczema and its the best for clearing the gungey bath oil they use). if poo-ed in then will also bleach it.

starlover · 23/11/2005 21:04

it's good for the immune system misdee!

once in the restaurant this lady came in with a little boy... she cleaned the table and chairs with her special spray.
got out a paper mat. got out the boys tupperware of stuff. cleaned the outside of the tupperware, and her hands.
she wouldn't let him touch ANYTHING, and he had to sit on another paper napkin! lol

Angeliz · 23/11/2005 21:04

TBH, the changing thing is probably more about my disgust at the ,,,,,,,,,,,,NO NO NO i'm stopping that thought!
Have you all SEEN some of those communal changing mats? They have smeared shit and grime down every little plastic crease!! OH and NO!

fisil · 23/11/2005 21:05

I'm a bad mum, then.

I do empty it and swish it out, though.

And take a shower if I was in there at the time.

starlover · 23/11/2005 21:05

no i bloody dont! the bath has plenty enough soap in it all the time...
