Am I the only one?

When my son hurts himself and bleeds - hasnt happened many times but today he did bloody his nose - I get this physical reaction of pure panic and terror.
I can usually deal with most emergency situations calmly but when it come sto him I just come over all ....terrified and fear the worst - today I thought he had broken his nose and my entire body goes into over drive and I cant think and I become a bit hysterical and panicy.

My husband says he isnt really affected by our son hurting himself and just take sit in his stride - obviously he is upset he hurts himself but not really upset upset and certiainly doenst have physical reactions like i do...

any other mother's have this??

I would say actually I'm quite calm when they hurt themselves and get much more worried when they have very high fevers etc.

But I think it's normal to go into a tailspin when you see your kid bleeding! :)

I am exactly like this, or worse even. When ds2 was about 18 months he toppled from a chair onto the quarry-tiled hearth. My instinct was to do a little shriek and run to the door Dh was sitting right there and dealt with it, though there was nothing to deal with luckily, but picked him up etc. Unsurprisingly, dh has never let me forget it.

For me it's not the sight of blood, fortunately neither of mine have ever really bled, it's the thought of what I might see, in the split seconds between seeing an accident happen and being able to see the result.

Another time, I realised ds2's foot was stuck in the wheel-arch of a tractor I was pushing him on - cue silly shreiking noises and a telling-off from dh.

In my defence, I don't do it when I'm on my own but I do feel absolutely terrified of looking when they've fallen over.

I think it must be something about these kiddies being the most precious and important things in our lives, their bodies are so precious and the thought of any blood or anything breaking fills me with terror!

Any one else having accident is ok - I can deal with that, others peoples kids, I can deal with but my angel..... oh goodness!

Gotta try to control it though as I am sure it makes the matter worse!!

a year or so ago he started to coke on a pice of dried cereal and his lips started to go blue.
My ears started ringing, my heart was pounding, my eyes were swimming with spots and I starte dto panic.
Thanks goodness he coughed it up after a few pats on the back.
I was shaking and later on cried and cried and cried!!!

Today when my husband came in after the bloody nose I almost fainted and started having trouble breathing!

It is horrendous!
It is only gonna get worse the older he gets!
