Yr 5 going to have sex education next term - someone in playground recommended a book to buy for DS, can't remember the name but will recognise it if someone says.

Can anyone recommend suitable book to introduce 10yr old boy to sex education/birds and bees ?

I know people say they're for little kids, but DC have read & reread the Babette Cole books about Puberty & making babies quite avidly right thru Primary school. I suggest you go look in Waterstones or similar to get a feel for what's out there.

I think there is one called "where willy went"

Where willy went is funny (!) but anatomically fairly accurate.

Not sure if it would appeal to a ten year old- my DD1 is 5 and thinks it's hilarious though! Maybe pick up a cheap copy secondhand on Amazon?

We have the Usborne book, What's Happening to Me? for girls, I think they have a boy's equivalent. It's really good, would recommend it.

We have always been open with DS but have given him the 'What's happening to me?' for boys too last year. I read it first and found it accurate. DS (now 11) said it was informative.
