Clothes and gender stereotyping

Hi, I would be really grateful if you could tell me in your opinion which of these are stereotypical for a boy or non stero-typical. If you could just typse S or NS next to each word please that would be fab. Ages ago I did a thread similar to this because I was thinking of opening up a small clothes shop. That's still a dream that will probably never happen but I thought it was really interesting to see what different things people thought were stereotypical to a particular sex - in this case to a boy.

Surely it depends on the colours on the clothing and not the actual pictures?

AMumInScotland · 26/05/2011 09:20

I'm with Sian - if I saw any of those on a dark blue t-shirt I'd assumed it was aimed at boys, if I saw it on a sugar-pink one then girls.

MockingbirdsNotForSale · 26/05/2011 10:03

I think they are all NS.

I design prints and wholesale t shirts to various kids shops and I'd say it depends on the colour of the garment and the age of the child. My customers want navy, green, grey, red or black for boys and pink or white for girls although I've had a request for some prints on turquoise recently.

Hope that helps
