'Safe' toys

I want to give my 3 month old DS a toy to sleep with so he knows it's sleepy time and so it comforts him. I know the toys are supposed to be 'breathable' to avoid suffocation but I don't know where to buy one of these from.

Can anyone recommend one please?

What is a breathable toy?

I read somehere (can't remeber where) that the safest toys were made of a breathable fabric to avoid suffcation. I was just going to buy a nice small soft teddy bear with no eyes etc that coudl fall out. Is this what you have done?
