Hi,
What age can I put my DS on his tummy on his play mat for some 'tummy time'? He is 11 weeks and I want to know if this is too soon to do this?
Thanks Smile

I would say as soon as he can support his head otherwise they end up face down and not happy, but I didn't do it with my children, with my daughter 15 years ago tummy time didn't exist and with my son (now 10 months) he hated it. Neither had any problem with crawling/pushing up or any other motor skills.

I think you can put them on their tummies awake virtually from birth. It's really hard work for them at first, so they won't put up with it for long.

Putting a baby to sleep on its tummy is what's discouraged, since it increases the risk of SIDS.

My DD is seven weeks and I've been doing tummy time for a week or two. Would have started earlier but I was exhausted so kept forgetting, and she seemed to always have a full tummy when I did remember.

Right now she tolerates about five minutes maximum, but it's so cute to see her lifting her head and moving her legs like she's trying to crawl.

If hes not keen on it try lying on your back and letting him lie on you.
