Biting and Pinching

My DD who is 14 months has recently started biting me and her dad and grabbing our faces and pinching really hard - it is not usually a frustration thing although it can be. How do you deal with this when they don't understand no? She really hurts us and I don't know what to do - I am really worried it is only a matter of time before she does it at nursery. I am also worried that I will react without thinking to a painful bite and I don't want to do that :(

give lots of attention for good behaviour and walk away if she pinches or bites you. don't shout or go on about it. just very calmly but firmly say that hurts mummy and walk off for a few mins. when you return tell her that biting hurts and then change the subject.
