hi everyone,

this may seem like a silly question but my 17 week old baby boy has pretty much outgrown his baby bath, what did you use after the baby bath? i dont know whether to buy one of those seat things because he can only go in them until he can sit unaided so will only get approx 2 months use??

just get in the bath with him - its much easier and he'll love it. Bath time with daddy has been the highlight of DSs day for months!

I just bought a bath mat and lay my DD in shallow water - she loves it. Although I did hold her for the first few weeks she was in the big bath as she was a bit wary initially.

We've always just bathed with our little guy too - especially in the early days it was a much needed chance for me to wash let alone him!

He enjoys having a shower in with us too - but perhaps we just have a water baby.

I just put DS in the big bath in shallow water. I actually find it easier to bath him in there than in the baby bath. Our routine is I put him on his changing mat with a towel under him, undress him/nappy off and let him have naked time while I fill the bath, then I wash him on his mat and he goes into the bath to rinse off. He loves having a splash in the big tub. I do occasionally get in with him too as others do.

I bought a large body shaped sponge from Mothercare and put DD and DS2 on it in a shallow bath x

One of those foam man shaped thingies, used it till the horror dd could sit up

Firawla · 09/05/2011 22:53

once mine outgrew the baby bath i just put them in the big bath, they are okay as obviously you hold onto them, and dont put too much water in
i had one of those seat things for my ds2 (the ones that are kind of enclosed not the support ones if you get which ones i mean?) but absolutely hated it, only tried it about twice but felt it made life harder than easier, and he got stuck in it the last time i used it so then i just threw it in the bin cos i felt it was dangerous, so would not recommend those things at all! the foam thingys or just the bath support look okay but you can manage fine without tbh

Never had a baby bath, I had a sponge support, but that ripped in half pretty fast, then I got one of those terry ones, it's like a wedge shaped hammock that allows them to lie back supported, when he outgrew that he could sit supported, so he sat up with a hand on his back until he could sit up alone.

My DD is 6 months, we've put the baby bath inside the main bath so she can have it really deep and bubbly without it going everywhere when she splashes. She sits up in it now, so room isn't a problem. Our bath is quite broad at the bottom and would take loads of water just for a couple of inches. DD much prefers a decent 'swim'!
