Ear Plugs vs Head band for swimming with a 14mo

Evening all.
Looking for some advice. I take my DS swimming quite a lot - to a waterbabies type class and also at the local sports centre.

Recently, he has had two ear infections and I am worried that they have been bought on by swimming, especailly the underwater stuff. So we are on a break for a couple of weeks.

Have been looking for things to keep the water out of his ears and have seen the zoggs ear plugs. To me they look a bit uncomfy for a 14mo, and also worried about using them wrong and somehow trapping water in the ear. I have also seen the headbands, which loook less scary, but perhaps less effiecient.

I would love to keep swimming with my DS. Would like to be able to keep letting DS go under water if poss, or at least do the jumping in bit which he is currently really really into. All advice/experiences are welcomed.

You need to use the earplus with the headband - you can't just use the headband as the water will still get in the ear. If you use the proper Zoggs ear putty then it is very malleable and you just squish it around the outer bit of the ear: you do not push into the canal. The headband helps to keep the putty in place.

I used these with DD for a year or two as she too was getting ear infections and it def seemed to help.
