Tampons with mirena coil

ive just had the mirena coil put in and was reading the leaflet that came with it and it said that it recommended using sanitary pads as tampons can pull the threads when you are changing them.

If you have a mirena coil what do you do?

When I had my coil (copper) I was told to use pads for the first 2 periods (including the one when it was put in), but that after that the threads would be soft enough for it to not be a problem.

crikey - never had any advice like that and I'm on my second. Have used tampons with no probs and it is really quite difficult to take it out yourself once its been in a bit (mind you, only tried pre childbirth so might be different after). Periods stopped fairly sharpish anyway!
