How do I handle my 15 year old son having stolen some cologne from his cousin's bedroom in their grandparents' house? The grandmother has phoned us to say it was missing, we checked son's bedroom, there it was.
So much embarrassment: the grandparents knowing, the cousin knowing that my son is a thief. It's only a small item of course, but where did I go wrong that he thought if he wanted something he could just take it? He has a habit of taking for himself items of no importance from within our home too, no thought of other people, but this is much worse.
We have tackled him about it, and are punishing, but I find it enormously worrying.
