Mothercare Smart nappy - anyone used?

I'm looking into reusables for dc4 having used them with dc2. I'm not flush (to coin a phrase!) so I'm hoping to keep the costs down low. The smart nappy seems reasonable but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them?

i have one, in my varied collection of nappies lol
it's nice! i use it quite a lot, i got it one day when i'd forgotten to take a spare and i bought one of those rather than a whole pack of disposables

i can't honestly say it's my favourite nappy of all, but it's much, much better than i thought it would be. fits nicely, fairly slim, dries quickly

Useful, thanks! What would be your favourite nappy?

I used (I think) Bambino Mios with dd2, but it was 11 years ago so I might not be remembering right! They were shaped just like disposables and came with a wrap. They worked very well but nowadays they all seem so expensive!

Then they were £80 for two doz. last time but when I looked at them again for ds (4 years ago) they were over £250 for the same stuff. I got a bit huffy and didn't get any!

my most used/favourite nappies would be the motherease one size with a motherease airflow wrap.

I had a trial pack of the Smart Nappy and thought it was rubbish! The reusable insert shifted about meaning DS weed directly onto the wrap, which then leaked.
I used pre-folds which were much cheaper than shaped nappies. Lots of people don't get on with them but they worked great for DS.

So prefolds as in a Bambino Mio style system?

I've realised after doing some research that it can't have been BM last time as they were shaped...

Are BMs pre-fold? I had some BM wraps but didn't like them. We used Tommee Tippee Cotton Bottoms but they don't make them anymore.

Watching some of them on ebay too!

BM seem to have a square inner which I think are prefolds?

I got newborn ones for DS, great that they have an umbilical cut-out bit but I found them too small for him at 8lb 12oz so we can't use them unfortunately.

Our best nappies have been fitteds with wraps, and best all-in-twos are Itti snap in ones; they're not cheap but I can get 3 uses out of each shell by poppering in clean absorbent pads.

I have a bundle of disposable pads for the Mothercare smart nappy which I'd be happy to let anyone have free for postage - PM me if you're interested. (I did put them on the 'free' board here, but no-one took me up on them.)
