Moving DCs to another school when in primary school ? worried how they will react

In a year or two we are hoping to move house and so will need to take DCs out of primary school and move them to a whole new primary school.

Have you done this and how did your DCs cope with it ?

I have DC1 who is just starting reception year this Sept 2011. DC2 will start a year after in Sept 2012. They aren't even in school yet but I am worrying about the shift and change in friends etc etc for them. However I think its better to move now when they are young and will adapt better than to leave it until they are nearer secondary school age and have made proper friends ?

Please someone come along and tell me I am not a mean mummy and that they will survive...

You are not a mean mummy and they will survive.
Our DD moved from her lovely school in Thailand when she was 6, she moved from her OK school in Switzerland when she was nine and she will be moving from her lovely school in Antwerp when she is 10.
It seems like a lot of moves, but the upcoming one will be the last for that very reason. She and I are going to move to England so she is settled for her last year at juniors before starting senior school.
Luckily for us, she is a chilled little thing who takes change in her stride.
