Does your DC wear a helmet to ride a scooter?

I've just bought DS, who's 2.5, his first scooter, a mini micro one. I wasn't planning on getting him a helmet, because scooting doesn't seem any more dangerous than other things he does without head protection, but now wondering whether I should.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks everyone - still not sure which way to go, but some good points here!

I've heard that falls at this age are generally really slow (more of a plop than the over the handle bars affairs my 12YO does) and so a helmet doesn't make much difference, however as other have said, it's all about safe habits.

My just turned 2YO doesn't wear one on his Skuttlebug or his trike. He SHOULD wear one stepping out of the back door and charging around on the upstairs landing, oh and climbing up DS1's high sleeper ladder (which is not allowed to do BTW!)

Mine have to wear a helmet whether they are on their bikes or their scooters. And if DD gets the skateboard and roller skates she wants she will have to wear a helmet then as well.
