Should I give up on the soother?

i know some people hate them but I think soothers can be great as long as they go when the child starts talking. Anyway, my DD3 is 3 weeks and we have been offering her a soother now and again but she only takes it for a few seconds and then pops it out. Should we give up on it or keep offering?

When my DD was your little ones age she couldn't hold them in her mouth they would drop out. Instead of using the special flat ones we tried the cherry ones and she could hold them better. (I wanted to use one because of SIDS and they are easier to get rid of than a thumb) She had a dummy for all of 8 weeks and then discovered her thumb.
