Christening gift..baby bond?

My husband is godfather for his friends daughter..we thought about getting a baby bond as an investment for her future rather than just getting a keepsake gift.

Any idea where the best place to get them from is? Would it be NS&I from post office? Also is £50 about reasonable?

Another friend of my husbands is giving £100 so he feels he needs to compete which obviously im not keen to do as we havent got that sort of money to give away!

Thanks in advance

£50 is plenty in my opinion. I know Nationwide do baby/ child bonds, we have on for ds. Try not to get into the whole competition of who spends what, you don't need to give a baby £100?!! Far too much, especially if you can't afford it. Thinking of when my ds was a baby, there's no way I would have felt comfortable accepting such a large amount of money even from Grandparents etc. £50 is ample!
