Congestion in newborn

my DD is 2 weeks old and has been very unsettled all day due to major snuffles, she sounds completely bunged up every time we put her lying down and it's really distressing her but she isn't bad during feeding or when she's sitting up but shes still not settling well even in a semi sitting position. We've tried using a nasal aspirator and saline drops (nothing really coming out of her nose so im not sure exactly where the congestion is) but nothing seems to help, is there anything else we can do for her???

For the lying down (especially night time) - how about putting one end of the cot up on books? It's been a wonderful thing this end.

Steam.

olbas oil is good. You should only use one drop on a muslin tied to the edge of the cot, any more will be too overpowering. you can buy special baby olbas oil but thats a bit of a waste of money as the regular stuff says its fine for babies as long as you only use one drop at a time. When not in the cot you can put a drop on her babygrow.
Alpine's idea is good, re tipping the cot. What we did is rather than tip the whole cot we put a rolled up towel under one end of the mattress so that the mattress was on a slop.
