Buggies & shopping

Hello all
I hope you can help me Im new to Mumsnet.
Im doing a project on the problems of going shopping with a pushchair and not having enough storage space on the buggy. Being a parent myself living in a small town I remember the days well when I would just nip to the shops but after buying what I needed would have problems getting it all home - struggling with plastic bags etc - can you all empathise?!

There must be a way of designing a product that would attach to a buggy similar to the way a buggly board does..

Please could you tell me how you go about your shopping with a pushchair and how you get round this problem?

Any details would be great! Thanks for your time :)

Louise

I stuff the basket FULL and use pram clips to hang more shopping off the handle and the back. :)

I have a 3 wheeler Teutonia Spirit which has a fair carrying capacity in the basket, but I do all my shopping on foot, including all food for 2 adults and a toddler. I tend to do at least 2 shops weekly, probably 3 plus bits & pieces. If I'm really struggling or with something big, my DS goes in the sling and the shopping goes in the pushchair.

My changing bag hangs off the handlebars.

I used both shopping baskets that came with my pram and have hooks on the handle for other bags. I don't worry about a changing bag unless we are going out for longer than an hour or so, especially now that my son is nearly 22 months.

I also have a very long handled bag from M&S that slings across my back like a backpack which holds quite a bit of shopping as well.

I can carry a full weeks worth of groceries this way.

Someone on the Dragons Den had a product that was basically a shopping trolley on a buggy board.

I use a carrier for dd and use the puschchair for all the shopping.

buggy clips are really good if you have a buggy with one long handle so you cant hang bags off the handle bars, i use mine all the time, otherwise stuff everything underneath. for supermarket shopping tend to do on weekend so one of us will go with one child and other one stay @ home with other child, and then can use the 2nd seat of p&t to fit in loads of bulky stuff, so that comes in quite handy

I struggle actually doing the shop in the first place, only have a O Baby Atlas and the hood isnt very sturdy and collapses if you try and balance a basket on it (ds found that out the hard way!) Its pain in the ass holding the basket in one hand and pushing the buggy (any direction cept the way i want) with the other hand.

Once i've paid its a piece of cake. bags on the handles and remember to hold on at all times or it'll ds will be upended!
