Hi xkatyx.

I have an 11 week old DS. PFB :-)
He wakes at around seven every morning. Chirps and chats away until nine, when he has a bottle and an hour long nap. He then feeds roughly every three hours, napping for roughly an hour afterwards each time. Bath, bottle and bed around seven. Sleeps through until four am, then has another quick bottle and change. So far so good! :-) He is for the most part a pretty easy going little chap. Fingers crossed it lasts.

How about you? Congratulations by the way.

Hi xkatyx,
My ds is also 11 weeks. Wow, Detroit, can't believe how you have managed to get into such a sensible-sounding routine already! Well done! Would have made me panic a few weeks ago but feel we are moving in the right direction these days.

I have a 3 yr old dd too so life is hectic in our house to say the least! Ds is a gorgeous cheery baby though and dd loves him, so things are def easier than they could be! Still hard coping with two though.
Ds has started going to bed about 7pm after a feed (I'm breastfeeding him) then goes into his cot and chomps on a dummy for up to an hour then drifts off to sleep. I dreamfeed him at my bedtime and he goes through till 4 or 5am (am thrilled at this, he was night-feeding every hour a while back!!) He then has another feed and sleeps a but more - might be 30 mins or might be 2.5 hours! We have no day routine for feeds/naps, just as and when, all tracked on my great Totalbaby app (am obsessed with it!) Has around 10 feeds in 24 hours, none of them hugely long. He sleeps in his pram or in the babybjorn during the day.
How are things going with you? I'm on a lovely post-natal thread where we discuss all this stuff, the Jan 2011 thread if you fancy joining us :)

Thanks deedee but I can't take any credit for it. We have just followed LO's lead. He really is an easy baby. I had a horrific pregnancy due to severe SPD (was housebound in a wheelchair for last three months of it) and am still not completely recovered, so I think somebody in the heavens knew I needed an easygoing baby! :-)
Sounds like your little one is a contented little soul too. You have intrigued me with your totalbaby app. I'm off to search the app store now.

Wow i'm jealous!

I have 11 week old, wakes 6am, naps for short periods throughout day (30 mins at a time), feeds (BF) about every 2 hours then has 2 hour nap late afternoon. Trying to have bedtime routine, bath 6pm, long feed, bed however.... bed ends up around 11pm after much struggling and then wakes 1am, 3am, 5am and wants to play at that time then up at 6 chatting away in cot.

Can't wait for the magical 4 hour sleep block let alone all night. But hey ho, whenever i'm super tired his smile does perk me up.

Think i'll head off to the make my newborn sleep thread Grin

How do you get her to take a nap at a specific time xkatyx?

xkatyx · 04/04/2011 19:57

I read a very good book saying that a baby under 4 months should never be awake longer than 2 hours as they get over tired.

So after a few days of working out her times etc i found she gets ratty about hour and half after being awake so i put her down 1 hour and 15 mins so she has 15 min to chill then she just nods off. if i left her any longer she would get all ratty and cry.

first few days she wasnt keen but she knows the routine now, feed, play sleep. also i swaddle her which i never did with my other kids but she knows it means sleep time

xkatyx, you have transformed my ds's napping! The 1.5 hour awake time is working perfectly for him now I am instigating regular naps. Thanks!

xkatyx · 10/04/2011 09:12
