Just realised I've fed my kids moldy bread - possible effects?

I feel terrible. For tea this afternoon I made my 11-month old eggy bread and 4 year old tuna sandwiches with bread which I now have discovered has specks of green mold on it. What could the effects of this be? Should I be very worried? Thanks

I wouldn't be VERY worried but just watch for any poorlyness

Possibly a very slightly enhanced immune system?

They'll be fine.
The worst I can imagine would be a slightly upset stomach, but I doubt it.

i do that all the time, not intentionally but we often take stale bread down to feed the ducks and my DS eats anything thats put in his hand and often chews up and swallows chunks with green mould on. He's still alive. To be honest its probably a lot less dangerous than the duck poo covered stones he munches on when i turn my back. (bet that makes you feel like a much better mum!!)

Thanks all - I'm sure they'll be fine. I do have a tendency to jump to thinking about worse case scenario. Ummm poo covered stones... on par with dead moths and flies - old favourites of my DS's!

Only concern is they might give you away at nursery (tfic)! Bread mould not fundamentally any different from edible cheese mould.

Octaviapink · 28/03/2011 13:00

They'll be totally fine.

I wouldn't worry.
Isn't bread mould basically penicllin?!!
Anyway, it won't do them any harm.
