Songs that pop into your head when feeding

Is it just me or do you sing the most bizarre songs when you are feeding your little ones.

I've just put my newborn to bed singing The White Ciffs of Dover.....now how on earth did that song get there?! When have I ever sung that? I even knew the words, how?

Surely it's not just me who manages to drag the most obscure songs from somewhere?

Oh you are so right. We used to do "feed the birds" from Mary poppins, and the Skye boat song. Quite bizarre.

Think we were looking for something soothing, tuneful, and traditional? Cliffs of Dover would fit the bill. :)

I didn't sing while feeding much, but there were a lot of choruses of The Supremes' classic
"Baby baby, where did your socks go?
Did you leave them, On Sainsbury's floor?"

not so much when feeding a baby but when trying to get ds1, a fussy toddler to eat used to pop into my head all the time!

Ah, Dilys I love that. We have some getting dressed songs....

I've got you under my chin
It's simply a vest doo doo doo doo
Hands up, baby hands up
And the timeless BabyFlutey, where's your troosers

DilysPrice · 19/03/2011 20:28

Oh yes, how could I have forgotten "DS, where's your troosis?". Tops are put on after a request to "wave your hands in the air like you don't care".

Fluteyboots · 19/03/2011 20:35

I am so stealing that one :o

DilysPrice · 19/03/2011 20:55

I would absolutely steal "simply a vest" if mine weren't too old

Julenelle · 20/03/2011 12:50

Oh yes, there's a song for everything!

I also sing 'superman' a la cheezy song from the 80's when my DD stretches out her arms after a feed!
