I haven't done my essay

The deadline was 12noon today and I haven't done it :(

I've had a really stressful week with lots of things I've had to deal with that I didn't expect. When I did have time to sit down I just couldn't concentrate and get my head to work.

I did all the research and know what I want to write, I understand the points and could probably tell my tutor over the phone but I just couldn't write it down.

I can't concentrate on anything at the moment. I had wanted to call my tutor last night but I had family over that didn't leave until late so I now need to email her. I'm going to explain everything I've had going on but really don't want to sound like I'm making excuses. What will she say? This essay is worth 25% of my grade, I'm kicking myself and trying not to cry!

PHONE her. Don't email, PHONE her and explain. I know you know this but you really should have called earlier and given her an option to give you an extension on your essay before the deadline - now it will be a bit harder, depending on how tight their protocols are.

BUt you have to phone her! If you are lucky, you will still get an extension but you may lose a percentage of your marks for handing it in late without pre-arranged extenuating circumstances. If you have had an emergency, that could count as extenuation circs but you should have informed her of it immediately.

Sitting there on MN fretting about it isn't going to help though so just bite the bullet and phone her NOW.

I emailed. She is available by phone every evening except a Thursday and I can't do Friday so we would have been into next week before I could get her on the phone. I don't want to phone her when she might be at work or something and has said she is only available at evenings.

Do you have a grace period? My OU essay deadlines are also 12 noon, but with a grace period til midnight where they still accept the essays. Check your assignment handbook. Good Luck!

Thanks MrsHuxtable, I don't know if we do, it would be good for an emergency but I don't want to look it up because it would probably encourage me to submit at midnight lol

I've been granted a weeks extension on my tma, my tutor is fabulous

I've blocked off the whole of next Tuesday to get it done, I'm going to tell everyone I'm working and try to ignore my phone for the day

glad to hear you got an extension! Keep us updated next week so we can virtually kick your bum if you're procrastinating too much.

Very pleased that you got your week's extension. Sorry, I didn't realise your tutor was so unavailable during the day.
We always allowed up until midnight of the day of submission where I worked but extensions requested after submission date were harder to hand out.

I have taken a day next week to hide away and get it all done. 5 hours with a 1/2 hour lunch break should do it, but if not I'll have some time on Wednesday t tie it up, so not panicking (not yet lol)
