Toddler dressing

Hi does anyone else have some tips for helping toddlers get dressed please?

Mine is nearly two and a half, and he clings on to his pjs as if I was taking away his most prized possessions...also his nappy! I don't really want to let him stay in his pjs all day Smile and obviously have to change the nappy.

I have tried letting him chose his clothes...but he doesn't really want new ones just puts them back in the cupboard..also tried a treat/routine for example he gets his chewy vitamin (which he loves) when he has got dressed but he still seems to live in the moment a bit...well doesn't seem to work anyway.

Irt was awful this morning terrible tantrums and crying...we have the school run and nursery so really need to get out on time and it is a real struggle!

What works for us is having t-shirts with his favourite characters on! He has Thomas pyjamas, so never wants to take them off, but if I show him a Thomas t-shirt, or Buzz Lightyear one, or even one with a funky penguin on or some other animal he likes, then he decides he likes that and wants to wear it and so will let me take his pj's off.

I agree with Rhian82, DS became very involved in the getting dressed process when it was an Elmo/Mickey Mouse/Thomas t-shirt. It has meant a bit of extra expense though as all the rest of his clothes now get totally ignored. Hmm
