Question about a GroBag

If anyone has a GroBag - the real thing - can you answer a qucik question please. The side zips - do they start at the top (under the arm) and the zip finishes at the bottom OR do they start at the bottom and the zip finishes under the arm?

I have 2 different sleeping pods at moment which have been given to me by friends - a mothercare one which finishes under the arm and a mamas nd papas one which finishes at the bottom. And the mothercare one does my head in! Smile

I have one (amongst many others), the zip finishes under the arm. In fact all of them do.

nannyl · 17/03/2011 09:28

the gro-bags i have used (have only used the real gro=bag and one from the little white company) have always started at the top (neck) and zipped down to the feet / knees, down middle of sleeping bag, not the side

ethelina · 17/03/2011 09:36

Sorry I'm possibly being a bit thick here, my grobag when zipped up finshes under the arm, when you unzip it finishes at the feet. Is this what you mean? Or the other way round?

THey vary Wink. I've had both side zips and front zips. but I think the side zips finished at the feet. the front zips certinaly do

FlingonTheValiant · 17/03/2011 09:45

The zips on mine are under the arm when they are done up/closed.

You unzip down to the feet.

greentig3r · 17/03/2011 09:47

I go to tk maxx. They sell slumber sacs which are good but less than half the price of a grobag. Ours zips from the top down, but on front rather than the side.

ElsieR · 17/03/2011 09:49

BTW does anybody why they are all short sleeved?

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 17/03/2011 09:58

The side zips are for ages 0-6months and when unzipped, finish at the feet, when zipped up they finish under the arm.

The front zips are for 6months plus and again, when unzipped are at the feet, but zipped up are under the chin (or on the chest).

My ds loved sleeping in his 0-6 month sized ones and when he grew out of them I bought the 6-18month ones. He's now decided that he can't move as much as he'd like in one and won't sleep in them! He could have told me this before I bought them no?

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 17/03/2011 10:00

ElsieR do you mean why they don't have sleeves at all?

I think it's about temperature regulation, if a baby's arms are cold it doesn't really matter but if you need to I'd put a sleepsuit or long sleeved vest on the baby.

ethelina · 17/03/2011 10:02

You can get them with sleeves, some have poppers at the shoulder to remove them. Vertbaudet does them (expensively)

Personally I've bought my bags from TK Maxx and used long sleeve vest and sleepsuit which is mostly warm enough. Haven't yet found a reason to buy the expensive Grobag over any others, they seem about the same quality as the best ones from elsewhere

ElsieR · 17/03/2011 10:04

yes I did. God, I'd hate it to have cold arms! Thanks for the info.

AKMD · 17/03/2011 11:02

If you want ones where they zip up towards the feet, try the Babies R Us ones. I found them really good for night-time nappy changes as I didn't have to take the whole thing off :)

Cosmosis · 17/03/2011 11:35

Boots ones start at the arms and finish at the feet (when closing the zip)

Rhian82 · 17/03/2011 11:42

We've had them both ways. One annoyed us more than the other, but I can't remember which that was! (DS in bed with duvet for about a year now).

We used to get them from Next, or from general cheapy clothes shops.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 17/03/2011 11:45

I have Gro-bag brand ones which end up under the arm and another carseat one that the zip goes down the front

CupcakesHay · 17/03/2011 13:29

Super - thanks for the advice. my DS has a very bad habit of weeing no matter how much I try to cover him with a clean nappy - so i have to take him out of the grobag to change him.... so find it easy if the zip starts off under the armpits and once unzipped finshes at the feet.... so the grobag ones are a go! And good idea about TK Maxx! Smile
