Following the talk on DayBreak, what do you think on this topic? (obviously everyones circumstances may differ)

Where do you sand if you do fall pregnant whilst on maternity or not long after returning to work?

Same as with your first pregnancy - you go back when you planned to and then your maternity leave starts when you want it at exactly the same rate as before. The only people I know who've done it didn't exactly plan it though!

I did this, I went back after a year's leave 8 weeks pregnant. They made me redundant 4 months later (when I was 7 months preg) - just me, no one else! Female bosses too!

I'm not planning on anything, just wondering. if it happens then it happens. just wanted to know where i would stand if it happened.

I work for a small GP surgery, plenty of staff (however they can get shitty)

Porcupine: did you appeal? and did youplan your 2nd?

Yes I wanted an 18-20 month gap - a pretty normal gap IMO. No I didn't appeal as I was planning to leave after my second maternity leave, so financially it was an absolute gift. But I still felt very sad, like I was being discarded, as had always been a very high achiever. I felt I was being punished for having children.
