when can my dds share a bed?

hello, I have 5 1/2 year old dd1 and 4 month old dd2. At bed time we all climb in to dd1s bed for a cuddle and dd2 and dd1 fall asleep together (hurraaah!) then I put dd2 in her cot. What age do you think it would be safe to leave them together for the night if at all?

I wouldn't do it until at least a year, possibly two depending on the setup - just because of all the risk factors in the older child's bed - pillows, duvets, risk of falling from the bed... etc etc.

I have a similar situation and haven't dared yet - ds2 is 11 months old. I don't think I could rest easy yet, as it would be fairly easy for ds1 to roll onto him or something like that.

But I'm looking forward to the day I can!

We co-slept with our babies and then when they got a bit bigger, they co-slept with each other (IYSWIM).

So, DD1 was about 3 and DD2 about 1 when they would sleep in DD1's double bed together.

They love it.

The worst punishment I can threaten them with (when they are bickering) is being separated at night in different beds or, gasp, different bedrooms!

sorry, so I meant to say, your DD2 is still a bit small IMO. But eventually it could be a great sleep solution, as it was for us. Give it a few more months.

My youngest was 18 months, I think. It was fantastic, and I think the reason why they are so close now. They slept much better when they were together.

DD1 is 14 and sleeps with DD3 who is 4. Because of the difference in age (and size) I was a bit paranoid and made them wait until DD3 was 3.
