My otherwise beautifully behaved and cheery 5 year old boy has recently developed a habit of being grumpy in the mornings. previously mornings have always been delightful where we all pile into our bed and have a drink of actimel or milk and a cuddle to start the day.
Without some form of instant nourishment he would be grumpy (as can happen when he gets hungry during the day too). That's why we plug the drink in as soon as he reaches the bed. This has made for fun mornings for 5 years now.
He's fab all day, loves school, is a fab sleeper and good eater, loves a good laugh etc etc.
I can see it happening as he wakes up happy and literally talks himself into a bad mood before my eyes despite my trying to steer him down a more positive line of chat.
Ive tried scolding him, ignoring him, reassuring him, explaining to him what is happening as he is forming the bad mood.
Hes a smart child and inderstands what im talking about but just cant seem to stop himself forming the bad mood and then just cant snap out of it even with help.
Any ideas?
