Hi, does anyone have any experience of thie? my ds2 had a uti as a baby. It started at about 10weeks and didnt get diagnosed till 18weeks old. (I was a paranoid mum of 3). After investigation it was found that he has a twisted tube coming from one of his kidneys. He has been on trimethoprim ever since. He is 4yrs now and every now and then, at least 4 times a week he is stopped in his tracks with pain in the kindey area of his back. GP says not infection as the pain would be constant, but it is worrying me as it hurts him so much. Any advice greatly appreciated.

i have a similar abnormality on my right kidney. the tube from the kidney to my bladder branches in two rather than one straight tube and it caused me to have lots of UTIs when i was little but they mostly went untreated (terrible GP). my right kidney (and to some extent my left one) is badly scarred. please make sure that if he has UTIs or pain you get it looked after. it is something that still causes me problems as an adult.

Def. there are other people on MN with relevant experience (Lou33's DS had a UTI as a little baby, didn't he?), you might need to bump this up next week when people are back from half term....
