Is it 'normal' for a 4 year old to be obsessed with computer type gadgets?

Am getting a bit worried about DS who is 4. We aren't big on 'technology' in this house, for example both me and DP have phones that are literally about ten years old!! We do have laptops as need them for work.

Bought Ds a 'leapster' for his birthday and for want of a better description he has become obsessed with it, he has several educational; type 'games' which he does love but our big 'mistake' was getting him a ben ten game. Yes it has lots of educational stuff but also monsters, fighting etc aplenty.

The first thing he asks for in the morning is the leapster and has also started talking at length about the characters in the game, wanting to go on the internet to get extra bits to the game etc etc. he basically doesn't want to do anything else. Obviously we limit his usage which is causing a lot of 'upset' at the moment. had a very bad day behaviour wise today and we have now taken the leapster away until DS can improve his behaviour.

Lately Ds has wanted to go on my laptop to play 'games' (constantly asking) and yesterday he went to a friends house and whilst we thought they were playing upstairs he was in fact playing games on my friends Iphone!! When i put it away he just repeatedly asked WHERE IS IT WHERE IS IT!!?

I am just looking for others experiences, opinions etc, just to say as well its not an issue of how much he 'plays' on the electrical stuff as we do limit it,more the intensity and preoccupation which worries me.

Thanks
