hi, posted a couple of weeks ago on finding out i'd got an interview for msc course. Been doing my swotting up etc but now thinking about appearance, is normal job interview type wear what i should be going for? Ie suit, smart top, generally neatly turned out. I'm a fairly scruffy person generally and always find scrubbing up without looking like i'm trying too hard a challenge :) will also have a bit of a journey before interview and goes on all day so worried even if smart at 7am it may have good awry by interview time ... Tia. Know it's probably not what i should be worrying about!

Dress smart - even if you are uncomfortable, and good luck!

Thanks for the replies :) It's psychology (hence the talk name - I'm a vegetarian psychology graduate but not the most imaginative person).

I found out that there's roughly 2 interviewees for every place, which is actually better than I thought it might be so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! They've rejected around 75% of the applications at paper stage so feel rather lucky to have got this far.

Thanks Prolesworth. Will post here after interview, don't know when I'll find out though, worst case scenario is I don't find out til June!

I am not so confident Proles - went to something yesterday thinking I would be v overdressed, I was so relieved I had been OTT re black suit powerdressing. I mean psychologists have to attend meetings etc and represent their employers - so I'd still advocate full on business suit.

Thanks again for the advice, had the interview yesterday and wore my suit and definitely was the right choice, most of the other candidates did the same.

As for the interview... it went as well as it could I think. I managed to answer all questions fairly well, but I don't think I'll be offered a place. Don't know why just a vibe. However, will find out in April so fingers crossed 'til then.

Just updating, interview went as well as it could I think but just found out the other day that I'm not being offered a place.

Think I basically need more experience, but they were really impressed with my application and I didn't feel out of my depth with the questions. The competition was really strong this year (70% eliminated at paper application stage, only 1 in 3 interviewees offered a place - all interviewees had perfect scores on application!) so I'm quite proud I got to where I did.

Thanks for the advice, I'm just going to keep swotting up and hopefully get more experience in the sector and go for it again next year.
