car seats on holiday

not sure where else to put this so apologies if its in the wrong place. We have booked to go on a package holiday to Menorca in July with a nearly two year old and two month old. We will probably not hire a car when we are there but was wondering what the situation is for the 35min coach transfer to the resort. Tour operator wasn't all that sure but if no-one on here can help me I will go back to them and insist they find out. Don't want to get there and be told they can't get on, but don't want to lug car seats to airport etc if not needed. Would a booster seat maybe be ok for the toddler and little one in sling?

I need to know the same thing, so here's hoping someone replies!! We're going to Spain in April with a 4 month old, and I was hoping to travel without the car seat too... By the way, what kind of buggy/ pram are you taking?

Not sure if there are more stringent rules now, but in the past I've taken dd in her sling when she was tiny, and then when she was bigger she just sat on the seat or on my lap on the coach transfer.

I'd go back to your tour operator and ask them to check, as surely this is a regularly asked question.

Bananamuffin I am going to get a little umbrella fold double. we've got a single that we used when went away on the train to Europe with DS1 and it was so much easier and lighter than his big pram (even though that's only a icandy cherry). Buggies don't count as part of your baggage allowance apparently. You can get them that lie flat enough for tiny ones.

Brilliant, thank you - will do the same as my buggy is way too heavy and doesn't fold flat...

Just wanted to let you know that I got a reply from my hotel yesterday, telling us that it's the law in Spain to use car seats/ baby seats until children are 9 years old. So we have asked them to provide a car seat for us, which they're going to do for 5 euros. Not sure if your tour operator or hotel might be willing to do something similar!

thanks thats really helpful. will get in touch and ask them. This is the kind of reason why I went back to a high street place rather than just doing it online - so you can actually ask them to check things and also that they'll be someone at the airport and resort!
