5 yo replaying bad behaviour from school

I'm at a bit of a wit's end about this and would love some advice. I have a 5 year old who's been at school 6 weeks. There are some challenging personalities in his class and by the sounds of it quite a bit of defiance and violence. He is replaying this at home a lot - so every day we have about 3-4 scenes over rudeness, shouting and refusing to do what he's asked - on top of the usual exhaustion of being at school. We are not remotely strict and we try to be calm in response - walking away or sending him out if it goes on- but it is really hard. All was totally peaceful over half term. Are there any ways I can stop him copying this kind of behaviour? He gets very hysterical about it, it's as if he's compelled to do it and then when told off he gets really upset.
