What can I do? Health/ Caring professions?

What can I do with this lot?

I've got a humanities degree, lots of admin experience and lots of voluntary work (the best with Samaritans) and I started the OU psych conversion course.

The OU course is being cancelled soon and I wont finish in time (I had DS (now 8months)and I need to get some paid work soon). I could transfer to the psych degree but all in all, it will probably take about 10 years or more!

I've thought about counselling but I'm guessing the work is limited, espcially with a recession. I've even thought about nursing.

I want to work in the health/ caring professions.
I'm rapidly going off heavy studying; wouldn't mind some academic stuff but probably not phd level.
I'd like a job with a career path and reasonable pay.
I'm nearly 30.
I don't mind working hard.

Any ideas of what I can do with my life?
