Living with the in-laws

DH and I are planning to relocate back to Australia with 2 DC (2yrs/6mths) and will be living at his parents until we get established with jobs and somewhere to live....might be up to 6 months. We've been away almost 7 years.

Questions:

  1. DC have not met their grandparents before....how best to help them with this transition?
  2. Would love to hear from some mums/dads who have moved in with their in-laws...
  3. Suggestions for the flight home - do a direct flight or a stop over?

Really just trying to get my head around this :)

do yr kids go on skype/video chat with gps? This is good for the gps and may help the 2 yr old to recognise gps

u dont need to worry about the 6mo so much, its the 2yo who will be more aware of the change. But tbh there will be more people to play with so it will probably be fine!

Take as many familiar things to the new house as u can

also get yr dh to talk to the in laws re needing yr own space, any particular things u want to be clear on from the beginning. And find out their expectations.

i lived with in laws before ds, wdnt recommend it but i had a tough time of it, its not like that for everyone
