I am umming and ahhing about what to use to wash my nappies and baby clothes in general. I have sensitive skin and want to protect baby from rashes if possible.

I'm swaying between:
Bold 2 in 1 (have heard conflicting reports about whether or not this is ok)

Soapnuts and tea-tree oil

Sensitive non-bio powder

Thanks!

i use tots bots potion or rockin green - seems to do the job (from cheeks and cherries) and persil when i run out. Don't think bold 2 in 1 would be good as nappies and fabric softner don't mix

Hevster- Bold 2 in 1 is meant to be the only softner that's ok for nappies because it's clay based so doesn't affect the fibres. There is lots of positive stuff written about it in the cloth nappy forums! I quite like the idea of it as I won't be tumble drying so anything that adds softness for baby's bottom has good to be a good thing!

I had similar issues and I use Surcare and my nappies seem to come out quite good with that. It's also all dermatologist approved and is great for people with sensitive skin, no perfume or similar skin irritants in it.

Bold 2 in 1 is good for washing nappies. We use ecoballs and magnet ball mainly but do use bold 2 in 1 from time to time.

2 in 1 is fine in that it is a clay based softner so doesnt coat the fibres in the same way as bog standard softners doo, so safe to use with nappies.

Allegedly though gel liquids can cause build up in your pipes and machine, especially if you wash a lot at 30 degrees. So over time you will get detergent build up on nappies and will need to strip wash more often. I have to say my experience backs this up, switched to 2 in 1 for a while and got build up. Stripped, went back to my powder and all is well again.

Rockin Green is fab but ££££!! Ecover softner is meant to be good, as again clay / plant based but not tried it.

I've just trialled the powder 2 in 1 and it seems great! Let's hope it works out for the nappies... Smile
