Gloves for cleaning chores

Do you get your kids to wear rubber gloves to do chores and if so what make and size of glove can you recommend? We have 2 dds (11 and 9) and are trying to get them to take on a bit more responsibility with the washing up and basic cleaning chores around the house.

I've always used rubber gloves myself from a young age for dishes and most cleaning (we've never had a dishwasher) My gut instinct is to insist that the girls have gloves on all the time to get them in the habit of using them, but not sure if its best to leave it up to them unless its essential to wear them. I'm also wondering how much more sensitive their hands are at that age than adults?

What do you do, and how do your kids feel about using gloves? Are they easily encouraged to wear them? Any advice on this would be much appreciated, or any other tips on getting kids to do chores!
