Please can anyone advise/help? DD2 is 7 weeks & 5 days and hasn't poo'd since Wed eve and is crying lots, drawing her knees up to her chest and is obviously in pain Sad I've tried everything I can think of..infacol, gripe water, massage of her tummy, back, bottom and feet...resting her over my knees..giving her water to drink in between feeds...even with a drop of orange juice in as with DD1 that helped her...but nothing is working. She is BF with 1 bottle of formula as her last feed before bed. I just want to help her feel better.

I'd ditch the formula for a few days and see if that helps? It can bung some babies up a bit.

Tip of a teaspoon of brown sugar in 2 oz of warm water. Works well and easier on them than orange juice. Was advice from my hv when dd did the same thing - but she went 9 days, apparently 12 days is not a prob espec when bf as there is not much waste from it. Good luck.

Thanks both of you, will try ditching the formula see if it helps..Felicity- 9days!!ShockShe is having brown sugar in warm water as I type so fingers crossed; can't cope with this crying for 9 days so really hope it works.

DD was mix fed as I was expressing - but having heard the same from ebf friends children, where the same happenned its not always the formula. You could always change formula if you really do suspect it is that but don't ditch it if it's working for you - one thing at a time eh!

Hi Felicity, thanks so much, your sugar and water tip worked wonders!! She drank it no probs and 1 hour later we had a poo explosion!! She was so much calmer afterwards and a much happier baby Smile Glad also to hear it might not be formula thats the prob as i dont really want to give it up as thats my respite, if and when, she has fed frantically all day!! Glad that worked, yes, is a pretty explosive result, but it works!
