6th birthday party costume ideas!

DD1 is 6 and has come home from school with an invitation to a joint 6th birthday party (2 boys in her class). Thing is, it's a fancy dress superheroes party. We're pretty good at girly fancy dress and can manage witches, princesses, fairies and nurses but no superheroes.

I'm thinking leggings with a shortened swishy skirt, some sort of cape and a headband / mask. Any other bright ideas? We love crafts and would be happy to make a costume together but inspiration has deserted me.

I know a little girl who loves buzz lightyear and she borrowed DS' costume for a birthday party she was invited to last week, and it was superhero!

I went to an adult fancy dress superhero theme and there were about 15 Lara croft... not so good for a 6 year old!

I would go for what you said. Or a Zoro type costume. Or Batman. But I'm sure nobody would mind if whe'd go as a fairy (she can pretend she's a super-fairy!)

Thanks Blueberry. No little brothers here (although I had forgotten about BL!) and all the little boys we know will be at the party.

She's not very girly (this week!) and not keen on fairies - she's going through a "black phase"- heaven help me, she's a teenager already. Will see what I can cobble together with her help.

Perfect TSPF, it's a superhero, it's black, but it's shipping from the UK and I'm in Asia. Don't think it will get here in time... thanks tho

OK, problem solved. Red leggings, red Aristocats Tshirt worn back to front (so it looks plain), red cape made from too-small red pinafore with the straps folded under, pinned to shoulders and worn backwards as a cape (opening at the front), red mask home-made with lots of sequins.

Should work... now I just need to find 2 presents for 6 yr old boys sigh

Use the costume you've mentioned, add a thick gold headband (or add gold card to a headband), gold wristbands - Wonder Woman.
Or attach an S to the front - Supergirl
