My baby is 10 months old and is crawling and only just pulling herself up. When do we need to think about buying her - her 1st pair of shoes?

about now! In clarks they do 1st shoes for exactly this stage in development and will take pic of your little one and their 1st shoes for you!

When she actually starts walking

They can be cruising around for ages - shoes from Clarkes are £22 per pair so hold off IMO

My DD is 16 months and just got her first pair of shoes as she has been walking properly for around a week

Ds1 started walking at 13months. We didn't buy his first proper shoes until he was about 15months iirc.

Non slip socks will be fine for your dd now.

As rubyslippers said, childrens shoes are expensive so hold out as long as possible.

I wouldn't buy shoes till she is walking.

I bought them for Ds about 2 weeks after he started walking.

I suppose going on my own experience which was dd cruised for a wk at 11months and then was running around - so she was ready for and needed shoes but can see your point if they cruise for ages!!!

We also had a pair of these to protect his feet when he wanted to cruise in the park or something.

I think it depends how urgent they will need the shoes. I.e if they spend a lot of time outside.
