restraining toddler on a coach

We are off skiing next week and have a coach transfer from grenoble to Alpe d'huez (at least 2.5 hour transfer).

I am slightly worried as my 21 month old has started having some cracking tantrums: very difficult to restrain - there is no way we can have her on our lap for that amount of time if she decides to 'kick off'. A lap belt wont hold her in her own seat either (she will get out easily).

Any ideas? Harnesses/ compatible travel seats?

You can get portable options- prob not as safe as
A proper one but may do. Did quick link here

Think eddie Bauer make a portable seat too

Seriously? You want to strap her down?

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 21:58

I read it more as a safety thing ismene- I don't think it's easy to leave them to it on a coach (and an early start with unfamiliar routine and surroundings may cause tantrum so am guessing op is trying to think ahead.

Well she can't be running around on a coach can she!

You are right to plan on having her own seat on the coach and having her strapped in.
When DD2 was about that age I had a terrible problem restraining her on my lap during take-off and landing. Would not have been able to keep her on my lap for a 2.5 hour journey.
I didn't do coach journeys, only air travel. For long haul flights we brought on their car-seats, which worked very well.
Could you contact a local coach company and ask if car-seats will normally fit on a coach seat?

Goodness me, you are so right, I had far too much saturday night wine last night and read it as that you wanted to strap her down whilst she had a tantrum! I am quite clearly a pissed up plonker and offer my now sober apologies.

Ha! I did think about the 'straight-jacket' option!
No, seriously, thank you. I managed to contact coach company and they will accept a car seat which is, in this case compatible with their seat belts (it depends on the type of belts they use and the car seat)
Anyway, hopefully we will all be more relaxed, safe and happy now for that dreaded transfer bus!
