my normally lovely 12 month old boy has just started hitting other kids in the head! im sure he is not doing it to hurt them, rather a new way of playing?? anyway i really need some guidance on how to stop it as firmly saying no does not do the trick. his two year old cousin has recently been staying and hit DS a lot. His parents basically gave him empty threats and i think this is where the behaviour stems from. any suggestions welcome!!

It's just a phase, but because he's still so little, all you can do is say NO very firmly and loudly, and remove him from the person he's been hitting.

He will grow out of it, but it will take some time before it sinks in that hitting people isn't worth it. You have the right approach, and don't worry - your little darling won't grow up to be a thug just because he's hitting people as a toddler!
