Amber teething necklaces - do they work & are they a choking hazard?

Dd2 is 4 months and chewing on her fingers a lot & v crabby. Not sure if she is teething yet but I was thinking about getting an amber teething necklace. Are they any good and are they not a choking hazard?

They worked for us I think and will definitely be getting one for ds2. Within half an hour of putting it on ds1, his bright red cheeks went back to normal colour, he stopped the constant dribbling that was irritating the skin on his chin and he stopped the constant hand chewing. He breezed through teething without any problems really. I always took it off at night though.

However, this could just be coincidence but there's no harm in trying it.

They are not a choking risk if you get a proper one. Magnetic clasp and knotted between every stone/bead IIRC.

Thanks. Hadn't realised they had magnetic clasps. Think I will get one for dd2.

Both my DDs have them and wear them 24 hours a day. With DD1 (2.5yrs) she wore it from 8 weeks and still does - we never had an issue. DD2 is 8.5mo and also has one it has definitely helped too. We bought ours from here they are knotted between beads and have an amber screw close fitting.

Total and utter shite. Fact. Hope this helps.

Of course they don't work. How could they?

Depends what you mean by work.

Placebo effect works on children and animals.

Any old beads would work just as well, no magic in the amber, but as aPixie says the amber ones that are specially made for children are safer.
