Friends for Tea

Had two of DD friends over for tea

Made chicken and oven chips and ice cream for later choice of flavours.

Friend 1 refused to eat chips as she only likes bought chips, (seen her eat both McDonald's chips and chip shop chips), had to make croquettes. The other friend refused to have ice cream as she is only allowed ice cream once a week and she already had some that week, so I got her cake cake.

So how does everyone deal with different tastes of children. I felt like sending them both home.

Although i n future it is take away or McDonald's/Burger King.

ask the parents first and if fussy offer a choice of things they can serve themselves from.

If they don't like it tough! I think chicken and chips was fine - you can't cater for every friend's taste, so don't try.

If they've not been before I always check with mum and/pr the child in advance if there is anything they don't like.

But then I make the food and that is it. I make sure there are veggies or salad seperate to serve themselves, and bread available. But I don;t cook seperate meals. They make do.

I just ignore, smile pleasantly and comfort myself with the thought that it takes several weeks to die from starvation- so one little afternoon spent round the cory household isn't going to do it.
