Need help / advice / tips - anything really

GS was dry and used his potty during the daytime. Then he had his little accident and broke his leg. As the leg was completely encased in plaster from thigh to toe, he couldn't sit on the potty or toilet - so rather than have him peeing all over his pot, we went back to nappies. Then the move to Cornwall was imminant (as are my spelling lessons), so, rather than expect him to remain dry for the 350 mile trip - we stuck with the nappies.
Now we're trying to potty train again - he's fine with nothing on and will use the potty or toilet - but as soon as he has pants on, he pees. He refuses nappies/pull ups (except for bed) does anyone have any tips?
