Well that really. DD is 2.5, has all her teeth, is a good brusher but due to her Grannys indulgance is a bit fond of ice cream, biscuits etc

Am taking dd2 to her first trip soon - she is nearly 4. Dd1 started going at about 2, but that was because she knocked her front tooth out.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 31/01/2011 16:38

our dentist said to bring them when all their teeth are through. dd1 is 3.10 and has had 3 6 monthly check-ups.

Thanks, thats a trip now then as she has all her teeth

Mine went with me from birth. In my experience mine wouldn't open their mouths for the first few trips, but do like getting stickers.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/01/2011 16:50

mine had her first appointment at 6 months. Am in deprived area though so was more about not putting irn bru in her bottle!

Tee2072 · 31/01/2011 16:50

My son has gone since birth as well, mostly because I have no one to watch him.

He's also had 2 check ups, which were only possible because he was screaming his head off!

He's 19 months.

Mine went from 2. In my experience, good to start them early, so it is not something they fear. Our dentist is a mom of similar aged kids, and my girls love her.

Seona1973 · 31/01/2011 17:50

mine went from when they first started to get teeth. DD only started opening her mouth properly when she was about 4 years old!! Had no problems with ds and he sits in the chair with his mouth wide open before they've even asked him to.

KAEKAE · 31/01/2011 22:34

My son has gone since age 6 months, he came with me to a check up and since he had a mouthfull of teeth by then I asked the dentist to check his out too. He is 3.5 now and still comes with to my check-ups every six months. My daughter is 14 months and has never been, she's still yet to get a single tooth!

doricpatter · 31/01/2011 22:36

They come with me from the start and get checked then. They like being fussed by the nurses and getting stickers. Plus, DS gets a ride in the amazing moving chair - what more could they ask for!?

ilovesprouts · 31/01/2011 22:37

i took ds2 at 6m

sparkleshine · 31/01/2011 23:52

I take DS with me when I have my 6 month check ups just to get him used to it, he's 13 months old.

My SIL is a dental nurse and put DS on the books when he was born. He's got no chance of getting out of it Grin His 9th and 10th teeth are coming through so I guess he will get seen when I next go. But she said it's usually aroubd 2 yrs old for 1st appt.

AngelDog · 31/01/2011 23:53

My dentist said to take DS at 18 months.
