Hi all. I began weaning my daughter about a month ago and at the moment she has porridge or baby cereal for breakfast and a jar or something I make for dinner. She was having all this with 5 bottles of 7oz a day but now she doesn't want a bottle with her breakfast or dinner she just has water. Is this ok?

Hi. Didn't want you to go unanswered, but my DS is nearly 7 now so I can't remember! But you might be better posting this in Feeding? Good luck, and hope you get some advice soon.

it sounds fine, they do reduce their milk once they start having foods. as long as she is having the water with her meal she wont get dehydrated or anything. i think 3 bottles is typical for her age, if she had 5 it will be too much alongside the food, or she wont wanna eat any of the food

My daughter is 8 months and she has:

8oz milk and weetabix with fruit puree for breakfast
Solids for lunch with water to drink
Solids for tea with water to drink
9oz milk for supper

Sometimes I chuck her a bit of banana or a rice cake in between times Smile

I also offer her water a lot during the day so she doesn't get dehydrated.

Hope that helps
